Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

The Trusted Name for Post-Water Damage Restoration for Seminole Homes

There are several types of water damage events that homes in the area can experience, most of which require professional assistance to restore and recover fully. Situations that deal with a high volume of water, like what this Seminole home experienced in the photographs, cannot be corrected using conventional DIY approaches. Our SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches was called quickly in this situation to begin vital mitigation work to protect installed materials.

Because standing water became a rapidly developing threat to this garage, our technicians quickly eliminated any pooling that might lead to greater water damage effects. Extraction was the focus of the mitigation efforts that our team started at this earliest stage, coupled with any content relocation necessary for the garage's affected areas. With a concrete floor, the water remained pooled in this room to affect and damage the base of wall systems, trim, and other structural elements. Water cleanup in this stage required a wet vacuum to begin pulling up the thin layer of standing water.

Controlled demolition was also necessary for some affected elements installed in the garage. The water quickly migrated through the baseboard and the drywall behind it, forcing our team to eliminate these overly saturated building materials. Removing portions of the wall through flood cuts on the sheetrock would also expose any voids and crevices dampened by the moving moisture. Before additional cleaning would occur with these newly exposed supports and framework, the area needed to be dry.

Several tools and devices were used to dry this Seminole garage, including the centrifugal air mover that you see in the After Photo. This photo also depicts the look of the structure after necessary flood cuts. The low body style of the centrifugal air mover ensures that focused blasts of warm air can impact the most heavily damaged elements and areas. Multiple drying units like the one depicted would ultimately get used in moisture elimination for the house, including:

  • Axial air movers
  • Wet vacuums
  • Injecti-Dry System

Air movers are among the most heavily used drying tools for our SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches. This was even more productive when paired with desiccant and low grain refrigerant dehumidifiers. Using polypropylene sheeting and lay-flat ducts, warm air can be forced back into the work area to make the full drying process more efficient.

Before our team members reinstall drywall removed for this project, internal surfaces were treated with antimicrobial solutions. This provided the customer that the job would not have unforeseen consequences and that it truly was "Like it never even happened," when our SERVPRO professionals performed the final walkthrough.
