Professional vs. DIY: The Best Approach for Lasting Results
Fire damage is often devastating, leaving behind not only visible destruction but also hidden dangers like smoke odor and structural damage. In North Redington Beach, a community known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant community, swift and effective fire damage cleanup is crucial to restoring homes and businesses.
Professional vs. DIY Smoke Odor Removal
Many homeowners consider DIY methods for smoke odor removal. However, understanding the differences between professional fire damage services in North Redington Beach and DIY approaches can help you make an informed decision.
Effectiveness
- DIY Methods: Home remedies like baking soda, vinegar, and air fresheners might mask the smell temporarily but often fail to eliminate it.
- Professional Techniques: Professionals use advanced equipment, such as ozone generators, thermal foggers, and HEPA vacuums, to ensure thorough odor removal.
Safety
- DIY Methods: Without proper knowledge, DIY attempts can be hazardous. Lingering water damage, smoke particles, and improper handling of chemicals can pose risks.
- Professional Techniques: Trained technicians follow strict safety protocols, using specialized protective gear and techniques to avoid risks.
Costs
- DIY Methods: Initially, DIY might seem cost-effective, but recurring issues and incomplete cleaning can lead to higher long-term expenses.
- Professional Techniques: While the upfront cost might be higher, professional fire and water damage services ensure comprehensive cleaning, prevent future problems, and save money in the long run.

Call SERVPRO for Help with All of Your Fire Restoration Needs in Seminole
Seminole is part of Pinellas County, with a city population of approximately 20,000. The first white settlers arrived in the 1840s. Seminole is named after the Seminole tribe that inhabited the area at the time.
SERVPRO® provides fire restoration services to Seminole residents, business owners, and communities in the surrounding area. We are available 24/7 and can be on-site within four hours of your call. We understand how much our clients appreciate knowing that our team is there to help them when disaster strikes. We have over 35 years of experience assisting clients in recovering cherished heirlooms and valuable content.
Every fire has different characteristics depending on what started the fire, the materials burned in the fire, and how long it was allowed to burn before the fire department was able to put it out.
Hot fires produce light, fluffy smoke residues, while grease fires, common in kitchens, produce heavy, oily smoke residues that cling to everything. HVAC systems distribute these residues to every area of the home. Our team takes all of these issues and more into account as we clean and restore your home.
Homeowners find the following guidelines helpful when their home has experienced a fire:
- Slips and falls, heavy wet materials, and exposed electrical wires are just a few safety hazards after a fire – be careful.
- If you must go inside, keep your hands clean to avoid soiling walls and upholstery
- Change the HVAC filter and place cheesecloth over all registers.
- Avoid attempting to clean soiled surfaces, especially when oily smoke residues are present. Oily residues can cause additional damage if the incorrect cleaning agents are utilized.
- Avoid turning on lights or using appliances in areas affected by the fire.
- SERVPRO can provide additional suggestions regarding cleaning, safety protocols, and more.

When fire damage happens, quick action is necessary. Call SERVPRO to tackle the cleanup and remediation that your home needs after an occurrence.
Seminole Homes Saved by Fire Damage Restoration
Densely populated residential areas like Seminole are generally more prone to rapidly-spreading house fires. This is an omnipresent threat that all local homeowners should be aware of and prepare for in case the unthinkable ever occurs. Such preparations are crucial considering the excessive time and expense that are often required to fully recover from fire-related events.
One of Seminole’s best fire damage restoration companies is SERVPRO. Over the years, we have strived to develop the most effective and efficient plans of action to remediate fire damaged homes. These plans of action expertly deal with house fire clean up, smoke remediation, and overall fire restoration. In detail, the procedures our professionals usually follow are:
- Ensuring your property is safe to enter, assessing the extent of its fire, smoke, and water damage, determining how costly and time-consuming restorative efforts might be, and developing a cost estimate
- Securing the home by tarping openings in roofs and walls, boarding up windows and other compromised parts, separating impacted rooms from unaffected ones with plastic sheeting, and installing fencing around the property
- Removing personal property and damaged structural elements, like flooring, drywall, and other construction materials, and then employing water extraction equipment, air movers, and dehumidifiers to remove water/moisture remaining from firefighting efforts
- Cleaning soot and acidic residues off of interior surfaces and HVAC system ductwork, deodorizing all affected materials, applying antimicrobials to things damaged by water, and restoring any packed-out contents to pre-fire condition
- Repairing or reconstructing significantly burned parts of the home, like room ceilings, floorings, walls, electrical networks, counters, and fixtures
That said, keep SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches in mind if you ever need fire damage restoration work done. We are experts at remediating even the worst fires and can often restore your residence in less time than most other services. Contact us whenever you need us at (727) 391-6212.
Dealing with Fire Damage in a Seminole Home

You can depend on our SERVPRO teams to clean up and restore your Seminole property, and personal belongings after fire damage.
SERVPRO Helps Homeowners Save Time and Money on Claims Filing and Fire Cleanup
Even small fires can leave behind potentially expensive damages. HVAC systems, tile grout, appliances, and electronics often need soot cleanup to prevent potential corrosion caused by moisture exposure. Fire damage suppression can exacerbate this and make soot even more challenging for Seminole homeowners to clean and document safely for insurance claims. However, there is a firm available to help with all of these issues and more.
Seminole SERVPRO fire restoration professionals can perform documentation and cleanup before claims adjusters arrive. This service helps homeowners file their proof of loss claims and return their property to a safe and comfortable condition as quickly as possible. SERVPRO restoration strategies comply with Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) standards for fire cleanup.
How to Handle Fire Damage After it Occurs
Regardless of where the damage happens, homeowners are encouraged to secure the safety of occupants first and foremost. After the fire has been suppressed and occupants are guaranteed safe, homeowners can:
- Call their insurer as soon as possible. The more quickly a claim is filed, the more quickly property owners can be compensated for damages caused by the flames. Insurance agents can also guide you through securing temporary lodgings as needed.
- Another step that can aid a claim is getting a copy of the report from the local fire department.
- If possible, take pictures of damages after the fire department has determined that the home is safe to enter. Collect necessary paperwork and valuables from the residence and medication packaging. Do not consume medication affected by the fire–instead, secure replacements for affected prescriptions.
- Avoid food, cosmetics, toiletries, and other consumable items affected by a house fire. High temperatures and smoke damage often compromise these contents and render them unsafe for use.
SERVPRO can arrive on the scene and begin cleanup before claims adjusters arrive. Technicians coordinate with insurance companies to perform cleanup and restoration services per homeowners’ needs and coverage.
SERVPRO’s Fire Cleanup Process Includes Documentation and Warehouse Storage
When SERVPRO professionals begin work on a home fire, they inspect surfaces and take pictures of structures and contents. Photo and video documentation are also supplemented by SERVPRO’s electronic and paper inventory records, typically used during pack-outs.
During a pack-out, SERVPRO professionals can:
- Pack restorable contents room by room
- Take inventory of items as they are packed for ease of searching later
- Move packed items to an approved SERVPRO warehouse
- Perform restoration of belongings per IICRC protocols
- Allow homeowners access to valuables, documents, and more that they urgently need with the help of the highly-organized inventory system.
SERVPRO pack-out services allow technicians at the property to focus on restoring the structure as thoroughly as possible. Steps to this end include careful debris removal, soot mitigation with everything from dry cleaning sponges to abrasion blasting, and rebuilding services like drywall installation and flooring repair.
Restoration services also include odor control and water removal for fire suppression that is implemented before soot cleanup begins. Simultaneous cleanup of structures onsite and contents off-site can quickly and thoroughly return a Seminole home to a clean and safe condition.
When homeowners need 24/7 service, We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster. Property owners can call SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches for their restoration needs at (727) 391-6212.
Helping Seminole Homeowners Tackle Smelly Fire Damage Effectively

Smoke and soot can travel throughout the home. SERVPRO has the equipment and cleaners to restore your home.
Help for Fire Damage - Contents, Structure, & Soot
When a house burns, each person affected experiences several stressors on the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale. These can add up to a significantly high score. SERVPRO understands how a traumatic event like fire damage can bring long-lasting stressors into your life. We can provide the contact information of several organizations in Seminole that provide fire-related assistance to area residents.
We implement other ways to help reduce the overall stress felt by our customers. Our experience and knowledge can put people at ease when we explain the processes involved. Assuring our customers that this event is not permanent helps lessen the hopelessness of many people.
SERVPRO helps families cope with the fire damage their Seminole home sustained by speeding up the recovery process. We do this by working as efficiently as possible while:
- Cleaning contents and surfaces,
- Rebuilding weakened structures, and
- Eliminating odors
A large percentage of the stress felt after a fire comes from the immediate and unexpected loss of multiple items used by your family. For many of these things, we can use an ultrasonic cleaning unit. Quickly coming clean, we can return such items to you and reduce the immediate need to replace these items. Wiping down the surfaces that your family is most likely to touch or come into contact with when checking on your home during the restoration process means you won’t carry a reminder of the fire with you.
Wherever fire damage affects the structural integrity of your home, we can rebuild it. New wood can make these places stable again. Doing this requires the elimination of water beforehand.
Researchers have found that scents often trigger our memories. How burnt things smell compared to how the same items smelled before is strikingly different. Removing charring on structures and bagging up destroyed debris is the first step in eliminating heavy, pervasive odors from a house with fire damage. Each step further reduces the strength of the scents. Others include dry ice blasting, thermal fogging, using an air scrubber, and masking agents.
SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches can help your family recover fast. Call us at (727) 391-6212.
How Can Cleaning After Fire Restoration Help My Insurance Claim?
8/21/2022 (Permalink)
Regardless of the room affected or the type of insurance you have, team SERVPRO can help after a fire. Contact our technicians today for services.
Seminole Residents Hoping For A Quick Fire Restoration Settlement
People living in Seminole know the importance of home insurance. If you do not have home insurance already, SERVPRO recommends purchasing a suitable policy as soon as possible. In the event of a disaster at home, insurance can help you with:
- The cost of replacing lost items
- Finding a place to stay until your home is safe to live in once more
- Repairing your home, including the basement and attic
- Repairing adjacent structures such as a garage, shed, or fence
Anyone who tries to make an insurance claim for fire restoration in Seminole will likely meet an insurance adjuster. The loss adjuster’s job is to examine your home and determine the cause of the fire, the extent of damage, whether your insurance covers the incident, and whether the number of losses you wish to claim is reasonable.
What has cleaning got to do with insurance claims?
From the insurance broker’s perspective, replacing lost items is the most expensive option. For example, it costs more to replace a sofa than to have a couch cleaned. Resurfacing is another costly option. It costs more to resurface a wooden floor than it does to refinish it or replace upholstery instead of cleaning it.
The SERVPRO policy is to clean and repair where possible and only resurface or replace an item as a last resort. Our strategy means lower costs for insurance companies, which is good news for homeowners looking for a smooth settlement.
What does cleaning mean after fire damage?
Fire leaves behind smoke and soot residues that look unsightly, smell unpleasant and can damage surfaces. Fire restoration cleaning aims to leave your home and belongings looking “Like it never even happened.”
Our technicians will:
- Carefully inspect your home to discover the smoke residue
- Identify the types of smoke residue present so they can choose the most effective cleaning method
- Identify the type of surface under the residue – different materials require different cleaning processes
- Capture and remove smoke residue from all affected surfaces, or dispose of surfaces that they cannot salvage
- Dispose of all cleaning waste and debris to leave your home residue-free
What can SERVPRO clean?
We can clean many kinds of materials during fire restoration.
Our technicians can remove soot from walls, ceilings, and floors. We can often clean residues from furniture, upholstery, drapes, and rugs.
We clean wooden, plaster, metal surfaces, and upholstery. Let our technicians take a look if you are concerned about your home office, your elliptical machine, or your favorite armchair. We are always honest with you about what we can save and what we cannot.
What is the cleaning process?
The cleaning process differs depending on the extent of the fire damage. However, every visit begins with an assessment of the scope of the damage. Our teams will communicate with you at every stage to ensure you are happy with our cleaning plan.
We use powerful vacuums to capture dry smoke particles. Wet smoke particles bond more deeply to surfaces and need more rigorous cleaning, but vacuuming is a good option for dry particles.
Scrubbing with a brush or using dry ice or baking soda blasting is an excellent option for ground-in particles, especially on more robust surfaces such as crawl spaces or basement walls. Sometimes abrasive action is the only way to shift smoke residue.
We also use a range of wet cleaning solutions to soak out stubborn soot with immersion cleaning, or we can use targeted applications for spot cleaning on delicate surfaces. Our technicians choose the best product for the situation, then we rinse and dry the area or item. We use fans and dehumidifiers to hasten the drying process.
What about the smoky smell?
Getting rid of the smoky smell is essential to fire damage remediation. The smoke has a distinctive odor, which, if left untreated, can linger for a long time and become an unpleasant reminder of the incident.
Our team knows your home will not feel like your own until the smell has gone. That is why we deodorize your home before wrapping up the job. We use a range of odor capturing and odor repellent chemicals, alongside air scrubbers and foggers, to remove smells.
Can SERVPRO talk to my insurance broker?
Yes, our team will work with you and your broker. We will give a professional estimate of which of your belongings we can save (by cleaning and restoration), and which are a loss. Having SERVPRO liaise with your insurer can expedite the claims process and make it less stressful for you.
If you need a fire restoration company that is on your side, call SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches at (727) 391-6212.
After Fire Damage to Your Redington Shores House: Getting Rid of Water and Foul Odors
7/20/2022 (Permalink)
If your home has fire damage, contact SERVPRO to come out and assess. We come up with an effective remediation plan to suit your needs.
Our IICRC Certified Technicians Remediate ALL Aspects of Fire Damage from the Burned Items to the Smells That Remain
Following a large fire in your Redington Shores residence, you might be overwhelmed with what remains. While the fire department successfully suppressed the flames, this has posed two problems you must remedy as quickly as possible. The first is the water removal needs from the hoses used to quell the fire, and the second is to remove the lingering odor that makes it challenging to be in your home.
Our SERVPRO technicians are skilled in multiple areas of restoration techniques. A multi-faceted assessment can mean that the fire damage to your Redington Shores home also gets addressed from a water and odor damage standpoint. Comprehensiveness is all a part of your restoration package that gets mapped out when you first meet with our professionals as they arrive to begin their work.
Water removal techniques and equipment depend on the amount of water in your home following the fire suppression. In many cases, the amount of water damage can be as detrimental as the fire itself was, depending on the time it took to put out the blaze. Pumps are used to remove pooled water, while specifically placed heating fans quickly evaporate the water seeped into fabrics, flooring, and walls.
Even with the water removal completed, the smoke and charring smell of burned material continues to linger throughout the affected area. SERVPRO experts we employ have advanced fogging equipment that can dispense a dense deodorizing vapor into the air throughout the impacted places in your house. This fog interacts with the smell in the air on a molecular level, bonding with these odorous molecules and neutralizing them. The effect is to remove the present odor without replacing it with a new one.
Fires are unpredictable and destructive, and the damages they leave behind often go well beyond the combusted materials. When this kind of disaster strikes, you can trust our SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches to restore your home and mitigate your losses effectively. You can reach us anytime by giving us a call at (727) 391-6212.
Salavaging and restoring fire damage from your Seminole home

Dealing with fire damage in your home can be quite devastating. Partner with SERVPRO during this stressful time for effective remediation services.
Fire Damage Restoration in Your Seminole Home Should Be Left to Professionals
The impact of a fire on your property can become a chore after the fact. Restoration duties can be a struggle with many homeowners lacking the expertise to decide which items are salvageable and which are not. Our dedicated team of qualified restorers is here to help you take your home from a blackened mess back to its preloss condition. With qualifications from the Institute of inspection, cleaning, and restoration certifications (IICRC), you can trust us to carry out necessary and complex tasks on your behalf. With the right treatment, many of your most valuable possessions can return to excellent condition.
The immediate aftermath of fire damage in your Seminole home can be the most stressful. You are sifting through debris to find the cause of the fire as well as being faced with a room full of charred materials and furniture. By contacting SERVPRO, you can ensure that salvageable possessions are given the utmost care and attention. Using a range of advanced restoration equipment and cleaning techniques, we are confident of restoring both the structure and possessions of your home to a preloss condition.
Charring on the structure of your home is usually indicative of a severe fire that burns at high temperatures. Smoke residues may profoundly affect the walls on both the interior and exterior of the property. SERVPRO technicians can fit truck-mounts with specialist wands to distribute both cleaning solutions as well as vacuuming away loose soots. Removing surface level soots, our technicians can understand the extent of harm on any particular area and clean the surface ready for pre-testing. You may decide to perform light-vacuuming yourself to speed up the restoration process.
Exterior walls are an eyesore when there is evidence of heavy soot-damage. Using powerful hand-held pressure washers, SERVPRO IICRC-certified technicians can remove the visible signs of harm. Interior walls may need sanding using soda or sand-blasting techniques. Where the damage is limited to decor rather than structure, our chemical solutions can dissolve and remove many types of stubborn soiling.
While property damages can be stressful, they are not necessarily permanent. Contact SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches at (727) 391-6212.
When a Mischievous Pet Causes Fire Damage in Seminole
3/15/2022 (Permalink)
Pets can damage furniture as well as start a fire. If you are facing fire damage, contact SERVPRO for remediation as well as preventative tips.
SERVPRO Suggests Fire Prevention Tips When There are Pets in the House
If you are a pet owner in Seminole, you may want to have a pet fire safety plan in place to avoid future tragedy. Indeed, the National Fire Protection Association statistics indicate that pets cause about 1,000 house fires every year. On the other hand, home fires affect approximately 500,000 pets each year -- all the more reason to emphasize pet safety for your household.
Having a reputable fire damage restoration company like SERVPRO at hand can be helpful in the aftermath of a fire disaster. We have an emergency fire damage response team in Seminole that can respond quickly to your situation. Our technicians are highly trained and certified by the IICRC, and we use industry-standard tools and techniques in every restoration job.
An excellent way to prevent fire damage is minimizing the exposure of cords to your pets. In addition to being safety hazards (such as causing electrocution when a cat or dog chews on them), electrical cords can short out, spark, and cause a massive fire. Generally, it is advisable to stay away from any damaged cords.
Rolling and then hiding your cords behind furniture or a more secure location can go a long way towards preventing fire damage caused by pets. If it is not possible to hide the cable, consider unplugging it and then wiping it with a cloth daubed with bitter apple spray. This type of cord cover is highly effective at keeping some pets away.
At SERVPRO, we receive many cases of house fires started by pets due to burning candles. You can reduce the risk of fire damage by eliminating them or using flameless candles. However, keep in mind that flameless candles use batteries that your pet can chew on, causing a significant digestive upset. If you really need to set the proper mood lighting, be sure to place the candles in the safest locations possible.
While pets are adorable, they are also mischievous and can accidentally cause house fires when left alone. If tragedy strikes, you can count on SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches to reverse any fire damage sustained. We have an extensive stock of resources that helps us restore your property to preloss conditions quickly and efficiently, "Like it never even happened." Call us today at (727) 391-6212.
Who Can Restore a Seminole Condo After a Kitchen Fire?
2/1/2022 (Permalink)
Kitchen fires are among the most common in the US. SERVPRO's techs are trained for fast restoration.
SERVPRO Technicians Perform 24/7 Fire Damage Restoration for Seminole Homes
Kitchen fires are among the most common types of home fire-related disasters in the US today and among the most underreported in the country. However, even a small flare-up can leave behind hard-to-remove soot, odors, and residues in nooks and crannies in your Seminole property that can cause further damage and property loss over time.
If your Seminole condo requires fire damage restoration after a kitchen fire, SERVPRO technicians are available 24/7 to return your home to a pre-damage state that minimizes both structure and contents loss.
Which Cooking Activities Are Most Likely to Cause Fires?
- Unattended cooking. One of the most common causes of cooking fires in Seminole is leaving cooking or baking items unattended. Have someone mind cooking food at all times to minimize the fire damage risk from cooking oils and fats, appliance failures, and nearby flammable materials igniting.
- Pan-frying and deep-frying. Frying foods can be hazardous due to their ability to spray grease on counters and other nearby surfaces. This spread gives a potential fire more ways to quickly spread, especially if dousing with water is attempted over other mitigation methods.
- Cooking on faulty stoves. An old or faulty electrical stove can eventually run the risk of a fire due to electrical arcing or other concerns as well as from cooking. Have a professional evaluate your stove to ensure that it is safe to use or update your Seminole home’s fixtures as soon as you are able.
- Cooking on gas stoves. Because gas stoves utilize an open flame, it is vital to be particularly careful to prevent a kitchen fire. Utilize fire suppression methods like a Type B fire extinguisher or range hood dispersion system to keep a fire from spreading.
What Is Covered on a Typical Homeowners Insurance Policy in Terms of Fire Damage?
As long as the fire is not intentionally set, your policy will likely cover at least some repair costs. The typical types of coverage you are likely to find in your policy include:
- Personal property coverage. Personal property coverage applies to the contents of your residence, which can include items like furniture, clothing, and appliances. Most homeowners’ insurance policies feature some amount of personal property protection so that contents can be replaced or repaired.
- Dwelling coverage. This type of coverage applies to both the home itself and garages and other such structures that may be attached to the house. Dwelling coverage often covers the bulk of repairs to a home’s framework after a fire, as well as additional living costs incurred if your home is uninhabitable during restoration.
- Detached structures coverage. This aspect of your policy aims to cover structures on your property, such as detached garages, sheds, and fences that are not attached to the home.
SERVPRO professionals coordinate with claims adjusters and insurance providers to minimize headaches for Seminole homeowners while streamlining the claims filing process.
Next time you review your policy, consider asking your agent about the following:
- Does your personal property coverage limit offer adequate compensation for property loss in your home?
- Is this coverage determined by the actual cash value of items in your home or replacement costs that take depreciation into account?
- Does your policy also cover damage to landscaping on your property?
How Does SERVPRO Restore Fire-Damaged Dishware?
Ceramics, glass, and other dishes in your kitchen and dining room are highly vulnerable to damage from a fire. These damages can manifest in a variety of ways, including the following:
- Staining from soot and residues
- Cracks and warping from heat damage
- Strong odors, particularly from kitchen grease fires
Dishes may be among the first contents to be cleaned in your kitchen to prevent any damage from oily soils from rendering these items unable to be returned to a pre-damage state. SERVPRO professionals treat dishes with a pre-soak in an alkaline detergent solution or industrial-grade cleaner before washing. Ultrasonic machines are also utilized for cleaning delicate contents like dishware.
On the other hand, fine china and crystal require even more delicate care, as the alkaline cleaners that are well-suited to everyday dishes can damage these more decorative pieces in your Seminole property’s china cabinet. Careful manual cleaning commences quickly to prevent acidic soot residues from etching into these items.
SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches provides homeowners with peace of mind and cost savings because We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster. Call (727) 391-6212 to have a team at your home within hours after your initial contact.

Why Food is Not Safe After Fire Damage in Seminole Kitchens
When fire damage occurs in a kitchen, the monetary loss to the homeowner often includes the replacement of foodstuffs. That exotic never-opened olive oil that got brought back from a dream vacation in Italy or the case of pickles bought on sale turn out to be a loss? Probably. The common question homeowners ask is, "Why toss sealed food?"
When SERVPRO techs clean up fire damage in Seminole homes, particularly kitchens, they have extensive training in fire loss. They know soot particles exist smaller than the human eye can see, and food sealed in containers gets contaminated. Also, anything in a can or jar exposed to the heat of the fire or firefighting chemicals could appear okay but contain dangerous bacteria.
Food Items That Are a Loss Due to Fire Commonly Include:
- Fresh produce and meats
- Foodstuffs previously opened (this applies to staple items and spices)
- Foods stored in cardboard, paper, plastic, or foil
- Items with waxed, cork, or peel-off seals
Safety First
SERVPRO techs make safety the highest priority during fire loss cleanup. After a kitchen fire, even a closed refrigerator or freezer that did not receive outward damage beyond needing smoke damage cleaned from the exterior often needs the contents disposed of due to probably soot contamination. The reason for this is because the seals on the fridge and freezer may not be airtight.
Removal of Soot and Smoke Damage
The techs take several steps to ensure the air quality is healthy during and after fire loss cleanup. Air scrubbers run continuously to capture airborne soot particulate, and containment over doorways and vents keep the potential for cross-contamination to other areas of the home is low.
Ductwork Inspection
During a fire, hot air expands and pushes into any opening, including the ductwork in the home. Soot typically gets found within the ductwork of the home. SERVPRO techs can inspect and clean the ducts as needed to ensure the house is free from soot and smoke odors.
SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches at (727) 391-6212 cleans up and offers full restoration services to homes with fire damage. With their advanced methods and equipment, the techs make the fire damage “Like it never even happened.”

Every year there are over 358,000 fires in homes across the US. One of the toughest parts of following a fire is ridding your home of the unpleasant odors caused by soot, combustion, and smoke. Generally, porous items of furniture suffer worse from smoke infiltration. Professional services can help with:
- Smoke remediation
- Smoke damage
- Fire damaged homes
There are ways to tackle fire damage in your Seminole home using household appliances. Carpets can often absorb odor particles and be treated by placing baking soda directly onto the carpet surface then vacuuming the area. Using a steam cleaner can also help to dislodge smoke residues that bond to carpet fibers; however, managing the drying process can be complex; a wet carpet is at risk of attracting mold or other microorganisms. Professional services can:
- Vacuum surfaces using high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) fittings filter out the odor or soot particles from a carpet.
- SERVPRO technicians can apply an emulsifying agent onto the carpet to absorb soot or odors if baking soda fails.
- Refitting ducts and shafts of a heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit can often tackle unwanted fire odors.

Smoke Odors Begone With Our Proven Techniques in Seminole

Do you know how to clean and restore kitchen fires? SERVPRO does!
Smoke Odor Removal
No matter how quickly you extinguish an accidental fire in your home, odors linger. Clean walls, ceilings, and other surfaces are not enough. To banish the memory of a house fire, all remnants of smoky smells must also exit. SERVPRO has the methodology to erase the most unpleasant aromas.
You felt lucky that the grease fire in your kitchen swiftly came under control. Whether you had the presence of mind to smother it with a pot lid, a large container of baking soda, or a fire extinguisher, the flames created what seemed to be only minor fire damage in your Seminole home. Precise cleaning of the flat surfaces and touch-up painting took away all visible signs of the fire. However, the acrid, smoky smell remained.
Even if you were able to clean up the sticky soot of a grease fire without our help, you need SERVPRO’s training and experience to clear up the persistent smells that remain throughout your home. Smoke odors drift on air currents, moving to areas of your house far from the fire location. Smoke trapped within your HVAC system is particularly troublesome. Many homeowners try to get rid of the smell with air fresheners. All that results is a temporary cover-up, or, even worse, a far more unpleasant mixture of greasy smoke and artificial fragrances.
We assess how the odors dispersed around your home. Sometimes overflow from the burned pot remains in hidden areas of your stove, like under the burners or down the sides of a slide-in unit. Perhaps residue ended up beneath the stove. Scrubbing off the spillage removes the source and the smell. Other times the burnt smell is due to tiny, airborne particles that combusted. We have success with that type of odor by a thermal fogging that recreates the combustion and attaches to offending bits to pull them out of the air or render them odorless through a chemical reaction.
Sealing damaged areas removes smells that are locked onto surfaces. The ductwork that harbors smells responds to sealing and repainting smoke-infiltrated walls keeps the odors contained. SERVPRO technicians train extensively in deodorization techniques and receive certification to use the products and techniques properly.
When a seemingly simple fire damage scenario results in stubborn smoky smells, SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches has the skilled staff to obliterate the odor. Call us at (727) 391-6212 to eradicate this reminder of fire.

The Rich History and Landscape of Seminole is the Perfect Backdrop to Homeowners. SERVPRO Helps Restore Homes in the Area When an Accident Happens.
Seminole and its proximity to the beach provides an ideal backdrop to raise a family, buy a second home, or retire. Located in Pinellas County, historians share that its name comes from the Seminole tribe, who once inhabited the area. Documentation of the first white settlement dates to the 1840s. At its south, Saint Petersburg makes it an easily accessible location for those who visit or reside in Florida but want the benefit of a large airport and a robust healthcare system. Surrounded by natural beauties such as Pinellas Park, Madeira Beach, and Indian Rocks Beach, the town is more affordable than other Florida cities.
Following early settlers, Albert and Dell Meares play a pivotal role in the city’s development. Upon the arrival of their family of twelve in 1879, the family settled into what is now known as Seminole City Park. In their honor, the Park’s lake is named Meares Lake. Their home became central to the town’s growth as it served as its post office and trade spot for its community, known as John’s Pass at the time. The John’s Pass Post Office delivered mail to and from Clearwater.
In the meantime, Stuart Meares, Albert’s brother, joined forces with him to purchase land in the area. The brothers’ land produced citrus, much like other leading families in the area, while Dell sold shells via mail and locally-grown plants. When Dell passed away, she became the first person to be buried in the Seminole cemetery. It wasn’t until 1970 that Seminole incorporated, and in 1974 it bought the Meares’s property for $200,000. Sadly, the original home was in poor condition and was demolished. Seminole City Park later opened in 2001 after undergoing substantial renovations.
In 1911, a bridge connecting Seminole and St. Petersburg was built across Long Bayou, and in 1914 the Tampa & Gulf Coast Railway kicks off its service to connect Seminole with neighboring towns in Pinellas county. It wasn’t until the 1940s that the area shifted from being mainly agricultural to developing residential areas and causing an economic shift in its activities. Nowadays, commercial development is healthy in this residential community, and it boasts many family-oriented amenities. Senior services are a significant portion of Seminole’s economy, as is the Seminole campus of St. Petersburg College.
What to visit in Seminole?
Seminole’s central location puts many activities within reach of its residents and visitors.
Whether you are outdoorsy or prefer the comfort of an inside venue, you are sure to find something to explore in the area. Some of the most notable attractions include-
- The Florida Botanical Gardens- Typically open seven days a week, all are welcome to enjoy trails and a moment with Mother Nature while in the Gardens. Friendly dogs on a leash are invited to enjoy the space as well. No admission fee is necessary, but donations are highly encouraged.
- St. Pete Pier District- A short drive to St. Petersburg will find you in a newly renovated Pier District along the waterfront. A combination of green space, restaurants, local artisans, public art, and fishing make a visit to the Pier a relaxing and entertaining one.
- Boca Ciega Millenium Park- A visit to the Park’s observation tower gives you a view of the Boca Ciega Bay from a 35-foot height. Bird-lovers enjoy visiting this park because of the variety of birds visible, including wading birds and upland birds. If you bring your little ones with you, a picnic and a visit to the playground area may just be what you need to spend some quality time as a family, including your small dogs! The history of Boca Ciega Millenium Park continues to be uncovered, and the finding of fossil bones has challenged the academic community to continue its exploration of the land.
Education in Seminole
Many don’t realize that Pinellas County is part of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, a regional initiative led by the University of Central Florida, the University of South Florida, and the University of Florida. The Tech Corridor seeks to encourage partnerships to grow the high tech industry in the region. In Seminole, St. Petersburg College is part of the state college system, and its campus is one of eleven throughout the state. Although not residential, it offers many four-year degrees to students in the area. Several Pinellas County schools are also recognized as top in the state, making the county an excellent option for families with school-aged children.
Life in Seminole is a great intersection of small-town living with big-city services. As a resident, you have the option of venturing into local adventures or traveling a bit further to St. Petersburg and surrounding areas. Wherever you choose to go, life in sunny Florida won’t disappoint.

What Can a Good Fire Damage Restoration Company Do?
8/5/2020 (Permalink)
SERVPRO has the equipment manned by skillful technicians to clean up and restore your fire and smoke damaged property in Seminole
Seminole Area Restoration Companies, Like SERVPRO, Are Often Able to Remediate Even the Most Severe Fire Damage.
House fires are relatively common occurrences in Seminole that take homeowners by complete surprise. Without much warning, these destructive events often rapidly cause thousands of dollars in damage that is difficult to restore. Such fires in the home can result from a myriad of causes, which include:
- Food preparation mishaps
- Malfunctioning heaters
- Electrical shorts
- Falling asleep while smoking
- Wildfires
Whatever their cause, the effects of house blazes require professional assistance to remediate. Knowing which service to call in their aftermath is essential to saving your home and prized possessions and recovering from them quickly.
What Are the Different Types of Fires and How Do They Affect Your Home?
SERVPRO, a local Seminole fire damage restoration company, has experience in dealing with the results of all types of house fires. This hands-on knowledge is crucial, considering that each type causes different kinds of damage and these require differing restoration methods. The primary forms of fires in the home are:
- Fires that produce “dry smoke,” or smoke that deposits dry residues
- “Wet smoke” blazes that result in the deposition of oily or greasy residues
- Fires, often caused by cooking mishaps, that involve the burning of animal proteins
- Fuel/oil fires that often leave behind crusty black soot
Dry smoke fires are usually the products of fast-burning, oxygen-rich, high-heat fires that burn natural materials and leave behind easily wiped up powdery residues. Wet smoke fires, on-the-other-hand, generally arise from slow-burning, low-oxygen, low-heat fires that burn synthetic substances and deposit hard-to-clean, smearable residues. When protein burns, it coats everything in a sometimes hard-to-see smelly residue. Soot from fuel/oil fires often covers surfaces with a crusty residue that can damage things if cleaned improperly.
What Can SERVPRO Restore?
Inspecting your home following a fire can be a disheartening process. Many times, it may seem that little-to-none of the damage you incurred can be restored. Fortunately, this is often not the case. SERVPRO technicians have extensive training and experience in restoring even the most severely impacted materials. They have successfully remediated:
- Structural elements, including floors, walls, ceilings, and rafters
- Upholstered furnishings and items made of various fabrics
- Different kinds of carpeting
- HVAC systems
- Expensive or irreplaceable items like Persian rugs, artwork, business records, or electronics
- Outside curators and electronic experts when needed
Using specialized tools and techniques, we can often save your fire-damaged home and return it to its pre-fire condition. Moreover, our experts can usually restore all of your most precious and irreplaceable items.
How Does SERVPRO Restore My Fire-Damaged Property?
As previously noted, SERVPRO employs high-tech restoration industry equipment and methods to restore your property. This effectively addresses harmful fire-related airborne particles and destructive odor-causing residues. Many times, after our technicians have completed their work, your home looks and smells as if it never even suffered a fire. When remediating fire damage, our experienced workers:
- Quickly ventilate your residence with high-velocity box fans
- Remove odor-generating airborne particles with state-of-the-art air scrubbers
- Neutralize unpleasant smells with ozone gas generators and natural oil-aerosolizing Vaportek devices
- Clean residues from HVAC ducts with specialized cleaning systems
- Counteract smells in carpeting and upholstered items with injection devices
- Deodorize difficult-to-reach areas with advanced deodorant-misting foggers
Through all of these actions, SERVPRO helps make your home’s interior air pleasant to breathe again and keeps your furnishings usable. They also usually safeguard surfaces and furnishing from further damage resulting from acidic residues.
Fires usually catch homeowners off guard, but there are ways of effectively dealing with their effects. Although it may initially seem as if your fire damage is insurmountable, there are often services that can restore whatever has been impacted. We understand the unique challenges presented by different types of fires and those related to the kinds of materials burned. We have successfully dealt with wet smoke-producing fires, those emitting dry smoke, protein-consuming fires, and others burning fuel oil. Our technicians have also repaired a wide range of fabrics, upholstery, and specialty possessions. Specialized training and tools, as well as extensive industry experience, have made this all possible.
If you ever experience the effects of a home blaze, remember that all is likely not lost. There are fire damage restoration services that can return your residence to its pre-fire condition. The key to effective remediation is being pro-active, properly researching the local restoration companies, and finding one with the right training, tools, and experience to do your particular job right, and then, having your home repaired as soon as possible.
With all that said, do not let a house fire get you down. Whenever you need assistance remediating residential fire damage, call SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches at (727) 391-6212.
What Can I Expect from Professional Fire Restoration Technicians in Seminole?
6/19/2020 (Permalink)
No matter how severe fire losses might initially appear, our SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches team can help.
Professional Fire Restoration Technicians In Seminole
With so many damaging effects in your Seminole residence after a fire, our SERVPRO team can help to clean and restore your home to its original condition.
If you are unsure what to expect when hiring out professional restoration teams for your Seminole home, you are not alone. Without experienced a disaster that warranted reaching out to accredited professionals like ours, many homeowners and property owners might be unfamiliar with the process. Knowing what to expect limits surprises and gives you peace of mind during the recovery effort.
Successful fire damage restoration in Seminole homes happens in set stages, where we approach the most pressing concerns first. By prioritizing our recovery efforts with what conditions are likely to get worse and what matters most to the customer, we can help to get you back in the house as soon as possible after a structure fire. Regardless of the specific tasks that must occur to complete these more substantial portions of the restoration process, we can break the fire recovery effort into three distinct stages:
• Emergency Services
• Mitigation
• Restoration and Cleaning
What Emergency Services Can Help After a Fire Loss?
One of the advantages of having a team of contractors on our roster is that we can offer residences and commercial properties structural repairs and reconstruction when necessary. Emergency services are actions that often precede job scoping and mitigation. What tasks occur during this stage are exclusively to reduce immediate losses and prevent conditions from becoming exponentially worse, awaiting mitigation efforts to begin after we communicate the situation with your insurance provider. Some of these pre-mitigation tasks include:
• Board Up - Structural breaches can be a penetration point for weather events or animals. We can keep your home safe by boarding up missing windows, doors, and other openings made by firefighters to extinguish.
• Tarping - Roofs can become damaged by a spreading fire incident, leaving your attic vulnerable to water penetration and other damages. We can tarp the roof to prevent water penetration.
• Content Management - Items in your home left in the direct path of migrating soot, smoke, odors, and other damages might demand immediate attention. By relocating these items, we can avoid irreparable damage.
• Debris Removal - This is a beneficial step after a fire because it eliminates ash, debris, and remnants on the floors.
What Does Mitigation Entail?
At its base, mitigation is a series of actions that our restoration company takes that are meant to reduce costs and loss. While there are dozens of elements that are now part of the mitigation stage of recovering your home after a fire, a few specific techniques can noticeably reduce overall restoration times and make the process as cost-efficient as possible. Some of these include:
• Surface Cleaning - Soot and smoke residues can be among the most hazardous and challenging obstacles restorers face after a structure fire. Through potent cleaners and focused techniques, we can often preserve affected materials in place of tear-out and reconstruction.
• Controlled Demolition - When the damage to your property has already occurred to a severe extent, controlled demolition can help our technicians to manage this present threat.
• Air Quality Improvement - Soot particles, odor, debris, and ash can all continually circulate within a fire-damaged home. With air scrubbers and hydroxyl generators, we can trap many of these hazardous particulates with onboard HEPA filtration.
What Cleaning is Necessary to Restore the House?
Just because mitigation completes does not mean that the restoration and cleaning of the property have finished yet. Many damaged areas of the house did not rate as a pressing emergency and can now get resolved through the final cleaning process. Some of these options include:
• Carpet Cleaning - Carpets can quickly become damaged by fire debris and other residues. However, hot water extraction and pre-treatment deluxe cleaning approaches can restore the flooring's feel and vibrancy.
• Deodorization - Removing odors from porous materials and the open areas where the fire damages migrated can be one of the final recovery steps. Our thermal foggers and ozone machines can make a difference quickly.
• Air Duct Cleaning - With a team of duct cleaning professionals, we can remove soot, ash, and other particulates trapped in the HVAC system.
Knowing what to expect from fire restoration can help you to have peace of mind throughout the recovery stages. No matter how severe fire losses might initially appear, our SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches team can help. Give us a call anytime at (727) 391-6212.

SERVPRO Restores Your Seminole Home After a Fire and Takes Care of Wet Belongings
If the fire department used water to extinguish the fire in your home or a sprinkler system activated, you might face not only fire damage but also water damage. It can be challenging to know what to do first when looking at a substantial loss from both fire and water. As Florida residents, we understand the importance of removing excess moisture quickly to prevent further damage, such as mold growth. Our restorations specialists assess the damage and go about the task of prioritizing tasks to bring your home back to preloss status.
Do I Need to Throw Away All Belongings if They Are Soaked?
No, SERVPRO Restoration Specialists Strive to Clean and Restore Your Items Over Replacing Them
We understand the importance of keeping costs down when repairing your Seminole fire-damaged home. Our technicians look to restore, clean, and renovate rather than ripping out, disposing, and replacing. If items require extensive cleaning, the technicians may choose to bring them to a secure offsite cleaning and storage facility.
How Do Technicians Mitigate Water Damage?
- They remove anything sprayed with a sprinkler system or by fire-fighters such as carpet, books, and artwork on the walls.
- They use moisture sensors and meters first to detect the amount of water and then how much water is present in the flooring and walls.
- Extract water from and clean the carpet, freeing it from stains and smoke residue.
- In addition to deodorizing from smoke odors, technicians make sure to deodorize wet materials.
- In conjunction with air purification equipment, technicians use air movers and dehumidifiers to dry the home.
The damage brought to your home by fire seldom has a straight-forward solution. Our restoration experts understand that each situation is different and create a unique plan to address your needs. They are adept restoring a home after both fire and water damage and can employ these skills to tackle both at once.

SERVPRO has the Air Cleaning Equipment For Your North Redington Beach Fire Damaged Home
11/25/2019 (Permalink)
Smoke and soot debris cause air quality issues. We have the best air filtration equipment in the business.
Air Cleaning Equipment after North Redington Beach Fires
Air quality threats are considerable obstacles for North Redington Beach homeowners after a fire loss incident. Soot and smoke particles can circulate quickly, spreading from the ignition point throughout the entire structure. Addressing these concerns is vital for a safe and effective recovery of your home for the occupants of the household and our SERVPRO professionals.
Regulating air quality hinges almost exclusively on the ability of our technicians to perform filtration on the air in the environment after North Redington Beach fire damage. Choosing the right tool for the job is not always clear and concise, however. Many units can offer effective results – but not without some negatives. Choosing the right machine can also help in additional ways beyond cleaning up the breathing air inside, like reducing microbial threats or reducing the severity of smoke odors.
Hydroxyl Generators
This generator is one of the dual-action machines that can both help in deodorization of your property after a fire loss incident but serves one of its most significant purposes through the filtration of air inside the damaged area. With onboard HEPA filtration systems, air can get pulled into the machine, and microbes, particles, and debris get trapped by the filter.
Air Scrubbers
Air scrubbers are less inclined to be among the machines most sought out for deodorization. However, they can help to reduce both the debris and particulates in the environment, as well as reduce threats like microorganisms that could colonize in moist conditions common after extinguishment. These machines work similarly to the hydroxyl machines, pulling in contaminated air and trapping airborne debris, exhausting cleaner air to improve the health of your property for our SERVPRO team restoring the damage.
Numerous options exist for restoring and recovering damaged homes and businesses after fire losses. With our ability to clear out many airborne contaminants, even air duct systems of your home, our SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches team can help. Give us a call today if you want to make a fire loss “Like it never even happened.” (727) 391-6212.

Fire damage can leave unwanted odors from the smoke generated. Hydroxyl generators such as the one shown help restore the air.
Various Cleaning Approaches that Help During Fire Damage Restoration in Redington Shores
You are likely to face several challenges after a fire incident in your Redington Shores property. Apart from consuming different materials, the fire also leaves deposits on surfaces and contents, which require a thorough cleaning to restore the property to its preloss state. Working with SERVPRO during the restoration of fire damage can help you get results faster because we are well versed with different cleaning techniques.
Fire damage in your Redington Shores home is unlikely to be uniform, whether you consider how it consumes materials or soils others. Such a disjointed outcome can be traced back to the conditions prevalent during the fire, which vary at different stages of the blaze and different sections of the house. For example, incomplete combustion leads to thicker smoke production, leaving some areas caked in residues and staining others.
Some combustion processes can produce liquid residues. Firefighting efforts, especially when the flames are doused with water, also dissolve residues. Penetration of soils into fabrics and other materials is a likely outcome in such situations. A cleaning method that absorbs liquid soils is the best way to clean the affected area. Absorption can happen through capillary, osmotic, or chemical action. Our SERVPRO technicians use different mediums when cleaning through absorption, including stain-absorbing powder. We also rely on penetration to reach dissolved soils deposited below the surface better. We use synthetic detergents, which aid penetration by lowering the surface tension of the cleaning solution after fire damage.
Although it might not seem so, cleaning is a chemical process. Just as the cleaning solutions affect soils and change them chemically, the soils also affect cleaning solutions. One effect residues can have, is changing the pH levels of cleaning solutions, which can reduce effectiveness. Our SERVPRO technicians counter this by using buffered cleaning products. The buffer is a chemical that maintains stable pH even as the agent mixes with different soils, thus ensuring uniform or faster cleaning.

Soda Blasting Gently Removes Charring from Burnt Structures in Seminole.
How Advanced Equipment Helps Resolve Fire Damage at Your Seminole Home
The best way to overcome the financial, and emotional loss you feel after fire incidents, is to restore the home to its preloss state fast. Hiring a restoration team can help deliver results quicker. We offer professional fire damage mitigation service in Seminole and rely on advanced equipment to deliver quality results and expedite the process.
What you see in the aftermath of fire damage in your Seminole home might not be as bad as it looks. For example, the damage on surfaces might not be very severe, but when fully covered in soot, it might be hard to tell. Cleanup can readily resolve the issue, but residue impingement might complicate the process. Our SERVPRO technicians use chemical sponges which have a unique cell structure that absorbs soot and other dirt from surfaces. The sponges do not require wetting to work, so they do not leave smudges.
Stains from Soot and Means of Cleaning Them
The heat and flames from a fire can lead to charring of surfaces. Standard restoration procedures would call for resurfacing or replacement of the affected materials. Such processes are expensive and might take longer, especially if demolition is necessary to access the material. Our SERVPRO technicians can use advanced equipment to address the problem. We can use soda blasting machines to restore charred surfaces faster. The process utilizes sodium bicarbonate and pressurized air which strip away charred materials and smoke residues. The sodium bicarbonate also has deodorizing properties, so it also removes any odors from the affected materials.
The right equipment simplifies the cleaning process
Soot and other smoke residues quickly settle on walls, ceilings, and other flat surfaces in your home. Cleaning all these areas can be a tiring process because of the repetitive work of scrubbing the expansive surfaces. By using pressure washers and vacuum cleaners, our SERVPRO technicians can clean soot residues faster. A strong vacuum with HEPA filters helps remove any loose soot particles without redistributing them into the air.
Whatever damage occurs after a fire ravages your property, call SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches at (727) 391-6212. We have the equipment to tackle the damage “Like it never even happened.”

Remediating Fire Damage To North Redington Beach Homes
Storm season is just beginning, but many Redington Beach residents are still rightly concerned about the risk of fire to their homes. A house fire can go through the structure in minutes depending on what burns, how quickly it burns, and how much heat it generates.
At SERVPRO, remediating Redington Beach fire damage is a task that needs a quick and professional response. Every team member that arrives at an affected home is trained and certified as a Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration Technician (FSRT). Team leaders ensure they have the skills and equipment to restore homes from the effects of heat, flame, and smoke.
Property that is scorched or burnt in a fire requires demolition and disposal. FSRTs carefully examine furniture items and other personal property to make sure it can be carried out safely or break it down into smaller pieces for easy disposal. They apply the same procedure to structural property like drywall panels and ceiling tiles. Team members carefully pull them off wall and ceiling framing and break them down for disposal. FSRTs bag or wrap everything when needed to prevent spreading ash and smoke residues.
Next, SERVPRO technicians remediate residues and odors. Disposal of personal and structural property eliminates the source of both, but items not physically damaged require thorough cleaning. To start, FSRTs wipe down everything remaining in the home with a cleaner that contains a deodorizing agent. This initial action eliminates many layers of residues and clears out the odors they exude.
For thicker residue layers, teams also have the option to use vacuums with specially designed filters to capture all residue particulates. If the smoke residues were able to penetrate thicker items like wall framing, FSRTs use sanders to remove enough layers of wood to clean them or a fogger to generate a cloud of cleaning and deodorizing chemicals that neutralizing the particulates.

Smoke and soot are hard remove and often require professional remediation.
Crucial Steps in Restoring your Redington Shores Home to its Pre-loss Condition Fire Damage
The impact of a house fire is both physical, damaging structure and possessions, as well as psychological. Getting your home back to its previous condition is likely to be at the forefront of your mind. To do that it is necessary to remove any physical items that were damaged by fire, restore personal possessions before finally, tackling unpleasant odors that can be a reminder of the event. We provide a comprehensive solution to help get you back to your everyday life after a property fire.
Our procedure for remediating fire damage in Redington Shores is comprehensive and can help make it "Like it never even happened." One of the fundamental parts of restoring properties after a fire is tackling heavy set odors. Even with containing a fire to a single room, smoke can travel around the property leaving behind thick, odorous deposits.
We tackle odor at the source. By removing charred materials and disposing of them correctly, we can ensure that an odor does not return after deodorization is carried out. Afterward, we can clean any surfaces that may have odor-causing residues. Using chemical cleaning agents, SERVPRO can sanitize surfaces before the main stage of deodorization begins.
The best method of distributing deodorants is to recreate the conditions that caused an odor in the first place. We can use thermal foggers to neutralize odors caused by smoke. Thermal foggers heat deodorant chemicals and distribute them in a vapor similar to smoke. These can be particularly effective for remediating air ducts or ventilation where hidden smoke deposits may be residing.
Odor particles themselves are tiny. Sometimes they can even be microscopic. SERVPRO provides our technicians with HEPA filter air scrubbers. This equipment can remove odor particles as small as 0.3 microns from the surrounding air by using a layered filtration system.
Controlling odors and removing debris is essential to getting your home back to its preloss condition, contact SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches at (727) 391-6212.

SERVPRO - Fire Odor Removal And Cleaning For Seminole Homeowners
Seminole fires can leave behind massive amounts of damage to area homes. Physical damage can be very costly, but some of the hardest damage to clean and eliminate after even a simple kitchen fire is the odors left behind along with the smoke residues.
Thorough Seminole fire odor removal requires four steps. SERVPRO technicians start with Remove. They can quickly eliminate many odors by removing the damaged property from the home. This include cooking utensils, cabinets, curtains, and all other material burned by the fire. Where needed, they carefully breakdown the larger items to bag for easier removal and to prevent spreading smoke residues to unaffected parts of the home.
Next, they Clean all remaining surfaces covered in odor-causing residues. Even a small amount of residue on a countertop or spread across the ceiling can generate very noticeable odors. Our response teams carefully clean everything from vent hoods to the linoleum floor if necessary. Each office has an extensive inventory of cleaning agents to remove every type of residue from burned material to include food, wood, plastic, and building material like drywall.
For tougher odors, SERVPRO technicians next Recreate the original situation that allowed odors to penetrate surfaces. Here, they heat a deodorizing agent with a fogger machine to generate a cloud of chemical agent which penetrates as deeply as the odor. The action can eliminate or cover the odor depending on which agent they use.
Finally, technicians Seal exposed surfaces. It is not always necessary, but it can be very useful when there was a severe fire that burned a large part of the home and generated many smoke residues. Examples include painting walls with a special primer coat before the final color and sealing all ducts in the HVAC system.
At SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches, our goal is to help every homeowner return to their residence as quickly as we can create a safe environment for them. If your home has suffered any fire damage at all, call us today at (727) 391-6212 to determine the risks and what we can do for you.

Smoky Fires in Pinellas County Bathrooms Can Curl Your Hair--Call SERVPRO, the Professional Straightener
9/25/2018 (Permalink)
Pinellas County Faulty Electrical Incidents Often Lead to Fire and Smoke Damage.
A Faulty Hair Straightener Can Cause a Fire inside Your Pinellas County Home
Everyone needs to get ready before work, but when your morning routine causes fire damage inside of your bathroom and burns through your hair care products, your morning can become quite overwhelming. Leaving the hair straightener to heat up while you get dressed seems like a reasonable thing, and in most regards it is harmless. In fact, many people do this.
However, faulty wiring inside your device, or a faulty outlet, can create fire damage inside your Pinellas County home. The fire can burn through and melt the plastic pieces on your hair straightener, fusing them onto your sink. Additionally, the fire can spread to your hair care products, turning them into a bubbling and burnt mess. The fire is easy enough to put out but, by that time, your sink has already been covered in char and soot stains.
Your bathroom now has a foul odor from the fire. Additionally, the sink is stained black in places from the burned material. In this situation, calling for professional remediation services as soon as possible is the best thing you can do for your home.
When you call SERVPRO, our technicians make it a priority to travel to your residence swiftly. After our initial investigation, our IICRC-certified techs can use chemical, lubricative, or abrasive cleaning methods on your sink to help lift the char stains. Sometimes, SERVPRO can decide to try abrasive methods first, to remove any dry and flaky soot materials. If solvents are added to dry bits of soot, the soot can absorb it and become harder to clean. Afterward, SERVPRO can apply chemical solutions to help lift and wipe away the stains from your sink.
The first and last steps that SERVPRO techs can do for your home is to use a ULV fogger to address the malodor left behind by the fire. The device dispenses a solution as a fog that is engineered to tackle the very particles that cause the undesirable odor and neutralize them. We also, upon arriving, sealed the bathroom and vent to prevent the circulation of smoky odors to unaffected regions of the home. In some instances, we can set up a hydroxyl generator to further grapple with the bad odors.
If a faulty cosmetic device causes fire damage inside of your home, do not let yourself hesitate. Use your phone to dial SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches (727) 391-6212. No matter the day or the time, we're are always open to assist you.

Fire Damage Restoration in Pinellas County Homes
9/13/2018 (Permalink)
Recovering after a fire can be tough. Call SERVPRO to help mitigate the situation and restore your home.
Team SERVPRO Offers Many Restorative Services After a Fire
Pinellas County homeowners usually keep an eye out for storm season, but this time of year is also the end of the worst time for fires breaking out. Many residents also slowly forget about the need to keep dryer vents clear of lint and dirt or failing to watch out for kitchen fires.
Remediating Pinellas County fire damage can be simple like cleaning smoke residues from the kitchen ceiling or demolishing and removing structural and personal property. SERVPRO technicians have the experience, training, and tools needed to restore any home in our area.
Removing residues is a key point to restore a home. Cleaning them away or removing damaged items eliminates a primary source of odors from the home while preparing the interior for further work. Residues are either dry or wet, depending on what burned, the temperature, and how quickly it burned as well. A hot, fast fire burns most property cleanly and evenly, leaving behind a dry, powdery residue that our technicians can wipe off most surfaces with a cloth or sponge. If it is very thick, they may require a mild cleaning solution to break it up for easier removal.
When a fire burns slowly at a lower temperature, items do not burn evenly, leaving behind thicker, wet residues. These require stronger cleaning agents to remove them. If the wet residues are on brick or rock surfaces like a fireplace or an outside deck, SERVPRO technicians use a wire brush to dig them out for removal and then clean the surfaces.
Although we are not a general contractor, our technicians can demolish and remove building materials like drywall panels and wood framing. Each one is trained to handle burned, or smoke damaged property to avoid spreading contaminated material to unaffected parts of the home.
With the damage removed, team members can swiftly install new wall framing and then quickly hang new, clean drywall. Our personnel can paint the new panels to match the original color or apply a different one according to the homeowner’s wishes.
The goal for SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches is to restore every home after a fire. If you need our services, call us today at (727) 391-6212 with any questions or to set up a visit and get started on returning your home and life to normal.

Fire Damage Technicians in Seminole Discuss Deodorizing Light Smoke Odors

SERVPRO Eliminates Smoke Odors After House Fires in Seminole
Odor Removal Is a Factor in Fire & Smoke Damage Control
If a small fire burns inside your kitchen in Seminole, but you get it put out quickly, particles that do not fully combust remain in the form of smoke. Even the smallest blazes produce smoke that can travel through your home and cause problems. Soot residues and soils get left on surfaces after the fire gets extinguished.
Any time a fire takes place malodor particles get trapped inside porous materials and create burnt odors. Whenever dealing with fire damage near Seminole, deodorization is a vital step. Unpleasant aromas can get removed from the building through a variety of techniques.
The procedures implemented change based on how severe the odor problem is. When dealing with light smoke damage, the smoke only affects a small area. Damage is given the light classification when no structural components are affected. In light smoke scenarios, soot residues in the area are light or not visible. The smoke problems are not severe when smoke odors are less noticeable further from the source and do not exist in rooms far away from the fire's source.
The first step to any deodorization process is to remove the source of the smoke smells if possible. This means that any charred items or debris present get removed. Our SERVPRO technicians always wait for you and your insurance adjuster's approval before removing any materials from your house.
Next, we ventilate the affected area to disperse the malodorous particles. After that, we clean any surfaces that contain soot residue. We start with surfaces and materials near the source then work in other areas of the building.
We then ventilate the affected region again so that we can determine what is creating the pungent odors. In some cases, we control vapor odors by applying odor counteractant beads or pellets to the floor. During other situations, we use an ultra-low volume fogger to disperse deodorants into the house. We dispense for fog closer to the fire source and less in areas further away.
Even minor blazes that occur inside your home can cause smoke damage that lingers long after the fire gets extinguished. For help eliminating burnt aromas, call SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches at (727) 391-6212 seven days a week.

Fire Damage Cleanup from a Dryer Fire in Your Medeira Beach Home
1/5/2018 (Permalink)
Having lint professionally cleaned out on top of just cleaning it out of the lint filter helps prevent a fire. Call SERVPRO if you have fire damage.
Fire Damage Remediation Always Includes Dealing With Smoke and Soot
It is always imperative to keep your clothes dryer clean in your Madeira Beach home. The most prominent reason for dryer fires is from them not being cleaned regularly. Before and after each time you do laundry, it is essential you clean the lint filter. You should also pay attention to the back of the dryer, as lint can build up here as well. Use a nylon brush twice a year or more if the lint filter gets clogged.
Proper installation and the right electrical plugs go a long way in protecting your home from a dryer fire and fire damage in Madeira Beach as well. If your home does suffer from a fire because of your clothes dryer, professional help is needed to get your home cleaned up and restored back to its original state. SERVPRO staff is always standing by to help whenever you need. We have the training and tools needed to repair your home properly after a fire.
During a fire, smoke and soot particles settle on and adhere to surfaces. To fully restore your home, we must remove these residues. Two factors of smoke behavior deal with the temperature of the surrounding surfaces and the temperature of the smoke.
SERVPRO staff understands that convection means the heat that is distributed through the movement of air. Since it is not as dense as cold air, hot air rises. As the fire burns, the colder air is pulled in the lower levels and then heated. The air rises, forcing any air from the ceiling downwards. As the fire is burning, the pattern continues, which results in a constant movement and circulation of air in a room or building, making convention currents.
Hot smoke usually moves toward colder surfaces, which is a principle known as hot goes to cold, resulting from convection currents. Hot smoke migrates toward colder surfaces of outside windows and walls, closed closets, drawers, and rooms that are unheated. As the smoke moves around, it residues is deposited the heaviest around surfaces which are colder. The difference in temperature around windows makes more massive deposits of smoke and tar residue on the backs of draperies than on the front.
SERVPRO of Seminole & Central Gulf Beaches understands how smoke and residues act, which means we also know where to find the densest concentrations and how to clean them. When your home in Indian Shores, Redington Shores, or Seminole is affected by a fire, you can trust us to properly clean it when you call us at (727) 391-6212.
